Vases

Each piece within this collection is crafted entirely by hand using an assortment (10-30 different species) of salvaged rare and exotic hardwood fragments arranged one-by-one in a series of varying layers to create the unique curvature of each hollow form. Once assembled, each vase is finely planed and sanded - without the use of any machining or lathe-turning - to achieve a smooth exterior surface with slight undulations. A final sealant layer is applied to expose the distinctive natural (unstained) colours of each unique array of woods - walnut oil for a matte finish, or an old violin-style spirit varnish (shellac) for a rich lustre.
